Rear-End Collision

Have You or a Loved One Been Rear-ended While on a Motorcycle?

Motorcycle rear-end collisions can be some of the most tragic of accidents. A motorcycle rider can be very cautious and skilled and take all the necessary precautions, but there is almost nothing any rider can do to prevent a rear-end collision. And, given the lack of protection for motorcycle riders, it’s not surprising that approximately 80% percent of motorcycle accidents end in death or injury while only 20% percent of car accidents are anywhere near as serious.

Most rear-end collisions with motorcycles occur at intersections. This typically occurs when a motorcycle is stopped at a red light or stop sign and the automobile driver is pulling up behind.  The car driver may not be paying enough attention or, because of the motorcycle’s smaller size, the car driver may simply fail to notice the motorcycle at all.  In many cases, the driver of the car fails to judge the speed and distance when coming up behind the motorcycle and does not allow enough stopping time. If the car is going too fast, it will hit the motorcycle from behind.

In this scenario, the rider is likely to be thrown from the motorcycle and, if the speed was great enough, the motorcycle can be pushed forward into oncoming traffic. After this sort of impact, the biker often suffers serious injuries and may die.

If you or a loved one were rear-ended by a negligent driver who failed to stop in time at a red light, you need an experienced attorney to protect your rights. During this difficult time, it is important to have a knowledgeable lawyer on your side to conduct an investigation and deal with the insurance companies
